How to Use Your Own Router on Your Home Network
Click on the link to obtain a PDF file with complete instructions and information for using your own router on your home network. NOTE: If you are currently using an ISP-supplied device, it likely combines the functions of a modem with a router. To add your own router to the mix, it is best to disable the router portion of that device and put it into “bridge mode.” That means it will just pass the data through from the modem to your router and give your router a public IP address to use. Contact your ISP if you have questions about how to do this, as it may be something that they would prefer to do themselves.
