Tornado: Day 2

On day 2 we awoke to a nice, sunny day.  It was obvious that it was going to be warmer than the previous several days.  Without power still, we were worried that it would get too warm in the house, but it stayed moderated.

Still, we decided that it might be nice to migrate to a hotel room, at least for sleeping and showers.  We already had no food and were eating out every meal.  Now it was time to get a room, shower, sleep, and charge our batteries again.  We headed over to a local hotel late and got in bed around midnight.  It was nice to be cool and get a hot shower.

Our son stayed at the house that night to watch things, since the garage door was jammed open and we were worried about critters (both four legged and two legged) coming around.

I touched base with Spencer a couple more times during the day and he was going to contact a garage company, as getting that fixed was a high priority.  He was working on final paperwork for the claim, so things were progressing.  We hadn’t heard from an adjuster yet, though.  We knew they were in town (State Farm) because they had a large presence with adjusters working all over.

Again, one more day of progress, but it’s always slower than you would like.  Considering that my entire street was devastated, I’m not in a rush, except to get the power back on.

Speaking of that, a large number of crews from all sorts of neighboring states were working on getting the power back on, putting up new poles and replacing the large metal towers via helicopter lift.  They were interesting to watch and very proficient.  There presence was very much appreciated.
